Below are the standard document requirements for applying for a Chinese Tourist Visa (L Visa) in the Philippines.
1️⃣ Passport
Original passport with at least six (6) months validity remaining.
At least two (2) blank visa pages.
One photocopy of the passport data page (photo, personal information, and signature page).
- Important Notes:
If you hold dual or multiple nationalities, you must provide all valid original passports.
If you have previous expired passports, please provide them as well.
- 2️⃣ Visa Application Form & Photo
(1) Application Form
One completed online Visa Application Form.
- Printed confirmation page with signature.
- 👉 The application form must be completed online.
👉 Bring the printed and signed form to the Visa Center when submitting your application.
👉 Ensure all information is accurate, complete, and truthful.
(2) Photo Requirements
One recent (within 6 months) color photo
- White background
- Front view
- Size: 48mm x 33mm
Wear dark or colored top (NO white clothing)
- No head covering (unless for religious purposes)
- Photos must NOT be stapled, taped, clipped, or detached
- ⚠ If the uploaded photo is incorrect or belongs to another person, the application may be rejected and a new form will be required.
If the system does not accept your uploaded photo, please bring a compliant photo when submitting.
3️⃣ Proof of Legal Stay in the Philippines
(For third-country nationals)
Submit:
Original and copy of your valid residence permit, work visa, or student visa in the Philippines.
- Important:
Temporary visitors should apply from their country of residence.
- Also submit a photocopy of your Philippine visa and immigration entry stamp.
- Final decision is subject to the Visa Officer.
4️⃣ Previous Chinese Visa (If Applicable)
If you have previously obtained a Chinese visa:
Provide a photocopy of your latest Chinese visa.
- This may facilitate visa issuance.
5️⃣ Former Chinese Citizens
If you previously held Chinese citizenship:
Provide your last Chinese passport (original + data page copy).
- If applying with a renewed foreign passport without previous Chinese visa, provide:
- Original previous passport(s)
- Copy of previous passport data page
- Copy of previous Chinese visa page
- If your name has changed, provide official name change documentation.
6️⃣ Travel Documents
Provide ONE of the following:
Option A:
Travel itinerary
- Round-trip flight reservation
- Hotel reservation
- OR
- Option B:
Invitation Letter from an individual or entity in China
- Copy of inviter’s Chinese ID (front & back)
OR foreign passport + residence permit (if inviter is foreign citizen)
Invitation Letter Must Include:
Applicant’s full name, gender, date of birth
- Planned visit details:
- Arrival & departure dates
- Cities to be visited
- Accommodation arrangements
- Inviter information:
- Full name
- Contact number
- Address
- ID number
- Official stamp & signature
- The invitation letter must match the information in the visa application form.
7️⃣ Additional Requirements for Applicants Under 18
In addition to the above:
Birth Certificate copy (with parents’ names)
- Parents’ passport copies
- Parents’ Chinese visa copy (if available)
- Parental consent letter (if one or both parents not traveling)
- If parents hold non-Filipino passport: copy of legal stay status in the Philippines
- For China-Philippines transnational marriage cases:
- Copy of residence/visa held by Chinese parent at the time of birth (if first-time application)
- 8️⃣ First-Time Applicants to China
(Not applicable to former Chinese citizens or minors)
Must provide:
Bank Certificate of Deposit Balance
(including 6-month bank statement)
Receipt for certificate issuance
- BIR-stamped Income Tax Return + Certificate of Employment
OR - Business Registration Certificate (if business owner)
OR - Professional ID / Student ID
- Other supporting financial or employment documents
- ⚠ Urgent or express processing is NOT available for first-time applicants.
⚠ Important Notes
The application must be truthful and signed personally.
- All documents must be authentic and complete.
- Visa officers may request additional documents or interview applicants.
- Visa approval, validity, duration of stay, and number of entries are determined by the consular officer.
- Check visa information carefully upon collection.
- The applicant bears responsibility for:
- False or incomplete information
- Non-compliant passport or photo
- Applying too early causing visa expiry
- Incorrect travel arrangements
- Not checking visa validity before departure
- All submitted documents will be retained by the Chinese Embassy. Only the passport will be returned.
